Optimizing Images

by k.schneider on May 12, 2009

In his article, Don’t Forget to Optimize for Images, Eric Bryant talks about how he discovered that his website was receiving a lot of traffic from a Google image search, a source that surprised him.    Many Realtors have blogs and if you’re like me you write about your listings, open houses, recent closings, etc.  Often I include pictures of my properties to keep things interesting.  However most simple blogging sites don’t automatically prompt you to label your pictures by adding an “alt” tag.  It would be a good idea to add image tags to include the address or description of the house or neighborhood.  Search engines can’t see the picture or know what it is unless you tell them.  The “alt” tags are a great way to optimize your site and drive traffic from multiple sources.
